Fraudulent Trademark Solicitations

You may receive communications from various entities offering to "watch" or "protect" your registration for a fee, or advising you that your trademark is about to expire. These are generally solicitations, though they often appear to be invoices or government advisories. Legitimate communications concerning your trademark will come from our offices as long as we represent you, and we will make every effort to advise you well in advance of any deadlines for the maintenance of your trademark once it has registered. We do not recommend that you make payments to any unsolicited outside service without very carefully reviewing the material that they send. An example of one such firm who has been quite active in sending official-looking “notices” is a company that calls itself the “United States Trademark Protection Agency” (apparently, they hope consumers will be confused with the real United States Patent and Trademark Office).
